Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation
CMHC helps Canadians meet their housing needs. As Canada’s authority on housing, we contribute to the stability of the housing market and financial system, provide support for Canadians in housing need, and offer objective housing research and advice to Canadian governments, consumers and the housing industry. Capital Regional District (CRD)
The Capital Regional District (CRD) is the regional government for 13 municipalities and three electoral areas on southern Vancouver Island and the nearby Gulf Islands, serving more than 377,000 citizens. As a local government and shared services provider, the CRD develops partnerships to facilitate and deliver projects and services that benefit municipalities, electoral areas, First Nations and the region as a whole. In addition, the CRD owns and operates the Capital Region Housing Corporation (CRHC), a nonprofit provider of more than 1,200 affordable rental units in the region, and administers the Capital Regional Hospital District (CRHD). The CRHD invests in traditional health care service and provides capital funding for health care infrastructure such as health facilities and hospital equipment.
Four key housing organizations from across Canada have come together in an innovative partnership that will help non-profit and co-operative housing providers meet long-term financing needs. BC Non-Profit Housing Association (BCNPHA), the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada (CHF Canada) and the Co-operative Housing Federation of BC (CHF BC) have joined Housing Services Corporation (HSC) to create Encasa Financial Inc. Encasa (formerly SHSC Financial Inc.) offers non-profit and co-operative housing providers across the country new investment options for their capital reserves.
